Let Kids Be Kids - The Icons

Watch some of New Zealand's most revered sportsman talk straight from the heart and remind us all to let kid be kids when they are playing sports #letkidsbekids

All Blacks Sonny Bill Williams and Liam Messam are some of the big names supporting this awesome cause!

Sport is an important part of life for most kiwi kids and it can have a really positive impact on a child’s self-esteem, physical health and social skills. Unfortunately most weekends our kids are being exposed to violence and aggressive behaviour from parents/ family members/ friends when they are supposed to be out there having fun. Our campaign aims to advocate the proper way to love and support children involved in contact sport and to remind adult supporters that they are role models and it is their responsibility to create a safe environment for kids to play in. Our message is simple: let kids be kids when they are participating in sport.…more

Peter Maivia inducted into WWE Hall of fame

Watch the heartfelt speeches from Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson and his mom as they welcome one of their heroes into the WWE Hall of Fame!

High Chief Peter Maivia did not hold back from representing his Samoan heritage, something he has passed on through his family.

In 2008, Maivia was posthumously inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame by his grandson Dwayne. The award was accepted on his behalf by his daughter Ata Maivia-Johnson.

Fanene Leifi Pita Maivia (April 6, 1937 – June 12, 1982) was a Samoan professional wrestler better known as Peter Maivia. He brought Samoa to WWE and traveled from NZ to Hawaii and San Francisco, where his career took flight.
He is the grandfather of Dwayne The Rock Johnson and part of the famous Anoa'i wrestling family.
Maivia was considered a "blood brother" by Amituanai Anoa'i, the father of the Wild Samoans (Afa and Sika), thus the Anoa'i family regard the Maivia line from him on forward as an extension of their own clan.

In 1981, Maivia was diagnosed with cancer. He died on June 12, 1982.…more

Tonga to host 2019 Pacific Games!

Prime Minister Hon. Samuela 'Akilisi Pohiva has released a statement stating the Games will be held in the Kingdom, despite difficulties in raising the funds necessary to finance it.

The decision was made to go ahead with the hosting after a special Cabinet meeting held earlier this week, with the Sports Organising Committee leaders meeting with Government officials to discuss details of the Games.

With the lack of funding for the construction of proper facilities and equipment for the Games, it was doubtful that Tonga would go ahead with hosting.

Sporting facilities such as a golf course and a swimming pool do not currently exist in Tonga, and these two facilities alone would take up half of the budget claimed to be needed for the 2019 Games. In addition, existing facilities in Tonga are not adequate for the Games - which includes an outdoor stadium, and an indoor stadium that would host basketball, volleyball, netball, and other events.

But Minister for Finance and National Planning, Dr. Hon.…more
